E:Can you please introduce yourself and tell us how you learn Cantonese, Sister Darcey?
SD: Of course. My name is Sister Darcy and I'm from Oklahoma, the middle part of the US, on top of Texas. We have hurricane there and the weather's just like Hong Kong. I've been in HK for 10 months. I love the food in HK so very much and the environment as well!

E:There's a Book of Mormon in your hand isn't there?
      SD: YES!
      E: Is it in Chinese?
      SD: YES IT IS!!
E: Oh you know how to read it huh?
      SD: Only a few...
E: Wa! Actually..how did you learn the Chinese characters(Traditional Chinese)?
SD: I think learning how to read Chinese character is quite difficult, like when I learn speaking Cantonese I found it's okay for me, like I can understand(listen) by reading by faith. But for the Chinese characters, I really have to pray every time before I learn. Otherwise I'd forget what I've learnt completely when I wake up the next morning. My memory is not very good but I know when I pray first and ask God to help me to remember, not to forget what I've just learnt. I can tell how important that change is(To pray/ not to pray)

E: Um there was a fireside(called How Foreigners learn Chinese) last week. What did you share with us that night?
SD: I shared the reason why we should have faith in Jesus Christ when we learn Chinese(Cantonese). I shared my experience about how my faith in Christ helps me to strengthen my faith in myself because He already knew Chinese. I used to think that it's too hard and difficult even impossible to learn. Believing/having faith in myself makes me... it's okay to make mistake, to say something wrong(grammatically) then I can continue to repent, believe in God, to rely on Him, knowing that he's taking care of me, like bringing me to HK, sharing the gospel with the Chinese people. That's why I have to learn, I won't take it for granted. And I know there's a way/method that I can learn this very difficult language. :)

PS I didn't translate it word for word but erm I tried my best and use the most suitable/sensible English words for each sentence cos there're quite a lot pauses. Sister Darcey I Sister Darcey's mum can help change the grammar, as usual if there's any mistake:) Hope this could help!
